Porsche 911 (996) GT3 for GTA3 - conversion of the Electronic Arts GT3 from Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed/2000 by hdmk.
(Includes full damage model)

The car replaces the Manana in game. It may also work if you replace other cars, but it has not been tested.

INSTALLATION

1. Extract the contents of this zip file to a temporary folder.

2. Download IMG tool from GTA3mods.com. Open the tool, load up gta3.img (usually in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTAIII\models\) and sort the files by name order (Tools -> Sort -> Name).

3. Find the file 'manana.dff', right click on it and select delete. Once the program has finished, add the file 'manana.dff' from the zip file (Commands -> Add).

4. Do the same for the file 'manana.txd', but this time open 'txd.img' with the IMG tool instead .

5. Open up 'handling.cfg' in your GTAIII\data folder (with notepad or similar). Find the line beginning 'MANANA' and delete it. Paste the following instead:

6. Open up 'GTA3 Res Hack' - which you can download from my site:
http://gtaworld.nfscheats.com/utilities.php
(or you can use the TXD tool from GTA3mods.com). Open up  'MISC.TXD' in the GTAIII\Models directory. Find the entry for "WheelSaloon64". Import the wheel texture (wheel.bmp) included in this zip over that.

7. This step is optional. If you want the car to bring up the text "Porsche 911 GT3" when you get  into the car, instead of "Manana", you'll need this step.
Open up the GXT Editor from gta3mods.com, and open the file 'american.gxt' (for the english settings) in your GTAIII\TEXT directory. Find the entry for 'MANANA' and edit the text (right click on the entry and select edit).

8. Start GTAIII and enjoy!

KNOWN BUGS
--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--

- The back windscreen. I know of the way that it 'removes' the back interior of the cabin when you look through it. This is annoying glitch, especially as the cabin has been fully modelled on the inside. I don't know how to fix it apart from trial and error.

- The patches on the hinge side of the doors.

- The slightly dodgy damage model texturing on the underside of the bonnet.
