Dr. Emmett L. Brown's
Scientific Experiment Transport Van
From "Back to the Future"

For GTA Vice City Only

Boxville Van created by Rockstar Games
Delorean Mod for GTA3 created by Phil
Emmett Brown's Van Modification created by DataSchmuck at SOA Productions

This vehicle from the beginning of one of my favorite movies, "Back to the future" It is the van that carries the time traveling delorean. Actually, it is a pretty pointless mod, but hey, I was bored, so here you go. This is my first and will be my last mod for GTA. I will never touch that blasted Z-modeler again. You;d think it would be easy to just extend an already existing vehicle and add in the delorean. But no, I have to be a perfectionist and spend 5 straight days (minus eating and sleeping) on this project making it just perfect. So if you notice something is missing, or there are any bugs, or you want me to change something, don't bother, or just change it yourself. I'm done with it. There are three versions of the truck in just one file. There is a version with the Delorean facing forward, a version with one facing backward, and one with no delorean. Enough of my ranting, on with the show. I will write this for someone who has never installed a car before.

INSTALL:
You will need:
Img Tool from www.gta3mods.com or any other gta modding site
Windows notepad (very rare and hard to find program, good luck!)
CollViewer from http://people.freenet.de/steve-m or some other gta modding sites

FIles included in my huge package:
boxville.dff - the car model
boxville.txd - the car textures
boxville.col - the collision file

First thing to do when modding GTA Vice City is to backup your entire MODELS folder and DATA folder.
Then you need to change the attributes of all the files we will be modding. To do this right click each file that we work with, and select PROPERTIES. Then on the dialog box that comes up, down at the buttom, make sure READ ONLY is UNCHECKED. Then hit OK. The files you need to do this on are:

GTA3.IMG in the MODELS directory
GTA3.DIR in the MODELS directory
carcols.dat in the DATA directory
default.ide in the DATA directory
handling.cfg in the DATA directory
vehicles.col in the MODELS\COLL directory

Now today we will be replacing the default boxville vehicle. So open up Img Tool, and go to OPEN, and then find the gta3.img file. It should be in the MODELS folder in the main GTAVice directory. Once you have that open, go to EDIT, then find, then type in boxville. It should find boxville.dff or boxville.txd. You need to delete both of them. SO once you delete one, go to edit, find next, and delete the other one. To delete, right click on the file, then hit delete. Now, to add in the new files, click on COMMANDS, then add, then navigate to the new files that you just downloaded, boxville.dff, and boxville.txd. Select them both, and click open. Now some people skip this next step, but I have had some problems when I skipped it, so I reccommend doing this, go to commands again, and click REBUILD ARCHIVE. This will take a few seconds to a few minutes.
Next open up CollEditor, and go to LOAD. you need to load the file vehicles.col, which should be in under GTA Vice Main Directory\Models\coll. Then scroll through the car names until you see boxville, select it, and click delete on the right hand side. Then click IMPORT, and find the boxville.col file included in my huge package. open it, and the program will ask you which object to import. Click on boxville, then import. Finally, click save, then hit yes to overwrite the vehicles.col file.

Now for the hard stuff.

In the DATA folder of GTA Vice CIty, use notepad to open default.ide. Turn off wordwrap by going up to FORMAT and making sure there is no checkmark next to WORDWRAP. and scroll down to the boxville entry (#228) and replace the entire boxville line with this instead:
228, boxville, boxville, car, BOXVILLE,	BOXVILL, van,	big, 10,	7,	0, 239, 0.9
Then save the file and close it.

Save the file, then use notepad to open handling.cfg, which is also in the DATA folder of GTA. Again, make sure WORDWRAP is OFF. Find the Boxville line (towards the bottom of the list of cars) and replace the entire boxville line with this one instead:
BOXVILLE 8000.0	2.90	8.00	3.60	0.00	0.00	0.00	90	0.65	0.85	0.35	5	150.00	13.00	R	D	5.70	0.35	0	30.00	1.50	0.04	0.56	0.40	20000	0.45	-0.25	0.50	0.00	8010	0	1
Then save the file and close it.

Next we will change the color to grey, like the movie. So go back into the DATA folder and find the file carcols.dat. Open it with notepad. Find the boxville line and change it to this:
boxville, 79,79
Then save the file and close it.

That should just about do it. Start up your game, and go drive around the seaport area until you find Doc's truck driving around.

It's awesome, it has gullwing doors and everything. I love it.
Thnak you Mr. Niceguy for sending me the original boxville files after I replaced them with a mod.

2003 SOA Productions. Feel free to steal my mod and call it your own, Distribute it to every modsite there is. I really don't care. Have a nice day.
