Using Nullpointers GTA3 sound tools
-----------------------------------

Put both EXE files into the GTA3 audio folder (example: "c:\program files\gta3\audio\").

I strongly recommend you to backup the content of the audio folder before doing anything or you may need to reinstall when something goes wrong.

Extracting files
----------------

Run the extractor tool and wait until it's finished. This will create a bunch of wave files in your audio folder along with a file named sfx.inf

Modifying files
---------------

You can replace all or any of the extracted files with your own ones. When doing so make sure you only use uncompressed PCM files with 16 bits and 1 channel; other files may be accepted without error but will give unpredictable results.

The sfx.inf file contains additional info about the extracted files which is required by the importer. I don't know what exactly the numbers in the 2nd and 3rd column are good for, when in doubt or your sound does not play back correctly try putting 0 into the 2nd and -1 into the 3rd column.

Other file properties (whether or not a sound is looped and playback rate for some files) is controlled by the GTA3 game code and therefore inaccessible for this tool.

If you encounter a file having bad pitch you need to resample it to the sample rate of the original file.

Finally, run the importer tool to create a new RAW/SDT file pair and run GTA3 to test your changes.
